Weekly Review 11/22

Homework
1. Reading Log - Please read 2 Raz-Kids book for your level. 1 Fiction and 1 Non-Fiction
2. Report - Good copy - Due Monday
3. El Deafo - Making Friends and Contrast - Due Monday


We had a great time at Miraikan! The pictures with your child have been uploaded to Seesaw. Here are some random pictures so you can see what else the class did at Miraikan.














Language Arts              
Cambridge Writing – Non-Fiction
The students spent the week writing their non-chronological reports good copies. They have to finish it by Monday.  
Novel Study – El Deafo
We read chapters 6 to 8 this week. They have to complete two pages of their booklets by Monday.

Innovation

PYP Unit 2 – Where We Are in Place and Time

The central idea is:
·         Innovation leads to discovery and helps to develop new understanding.
In this week, we focused on:.
·         Field Trip – Seeing how technology has changed and modern innovations.
·         Free Inquiry Project – In groups, they are working on a project based on an invention of the students’ choice. We will work on the inquiry booklet for this project for the next few weeks.
·         Science Content – Which materials are magnetic?

Character Education
PYP
During our character education classes this week, we focused on:
·         Reflecting on our school work
·         How to behave outside of school on field trips
Specific skills (Approaches to Learning). For the last few months of the term, we are focusing on 3 skills:
·         Reading: reading non-fiction texts
·         Recording data: doing research and summarizing the information
·         Acquisition of knowledge: organizing the information that we find

Language Arts              
Cambridge Writing – Non-Fiction
The students spent the week doing research, planning, designing the layout and writing their non-chronological reports. The rough copies must be finished by by Monday.  
Novel Study – El Deafo
As stated previously, our next class noel is El Deafo. It is a graphic novel and students can read it at home using their tablets on Sora.
