Homework

Language Arts              
Cambridge Writing – Non-Fiction
The students spent the week doing research, planning, designing the layout and writing their non-chronological reports. The rough copies must be finished by by Monday.  
Novel Study – El Deafo
As stated previously, our next class noel is El Deafo. It is a graphic novel and students can read it at home using their tablets on Sora.

We read chapter 1-5 this week and the students have to complete two pages in their booklets by Monday.

Innovation

PYP Unit 2 – Where We Are in Place and Time

The central idea is:
·         Innovation leads to discovery and helps to develop new understanding.
In this week, we focused on:.
·         Exploring magnets – how they work and why they are important
·         Free Inquiry Project – In groups, they are working on a project based on an invention of the students’ choice. We will work on the inquiry booklet for this project for the next few weeks.

Character Education
PYP
During our character education classes this week, we focused on:
·         Going over some school issues
·         How to do research (research skills)
·         Primary Assembly
Specific skills (Approaches to Learning). For the last few months of the term, we are focusing on 3 skills:
·         Reading: reading non-fiction texts
·         Recording data: doing research and summarizing the information
·         Acquisition of knowledge: organizing the information that we find
