November Japanese class JNL Newsletter

Dear Grade 4 Parents,

There was an annual event “Japanese Culture Day” on Nov 15th
Students got the chance to experience Japanese culture.
They enjoyed dansing “Bon Odori”.
Also they enjoyed eating “Shiratama” (rice-flour dumplings) and playing “Koma”.
We had a fun time!

Here is monthly Japanese class newsletter.
Please enjoy reading it.
                                       Ms. Hayashi

This month the Grade 4 students were absorbed in the topic “Shinbun o tsukurou”. We studied how to make a newspaper. And then I gave them an opportunity to make it for the neighboring Public Elementary school students. Because we are neighbors and sometimes we had an exchange activity with them before. Students tried to let them know about school life at Horizon, and wrote articles about it such as a Snack time, Talent Quest, our Field trip and our ASP. Also they enjoyed drawing 4frames-comic in it. It’s good for them to think about the structure of the story. They cooperated in a group to complete this work. Now, it is displayed on their classroom! Also I hope you already checked it when they brought it to home.
On the topic of “Iroirona imi o motsu kotoba”, students studied verbs that have the same meaning (homonyms).
