Cambridge Writing - Fiction
|
We read an extract from Where the Mountain Meets the Moon (a wonderful
book!) and we focused on analyzing how writers describe settings and
characters in the story opening.
We have not officially started our
grammar lessons yet but they will start next week. We use a student-centered
tracking system which I will explain when we start it.
|
Novel Study – The Tale of Despereaux
|
We finished reading chapters 16 to 18. It was a
very interesting change of perspective as we switched to another character’s
point of view. The students finished the usual comprehension and summary
sheet.

PYP Unit 1 – Who We Are

We started the
next component of our Healthy Unit. Students looked at human body systems.
They did a great job doing research on Britannica and Kiddle.
They were also
introduced to our next major project which will be based around superheroes.

working on how to properly reflect on our own work.
·
We are also still learning a
few specific skills (Approaches to Learning). For the first 2 months, we are
focusing on 3 skills:
·
Organization: school materials, desks,
research, home study area
·
Cooperating: working in groups, taking
